Netsai Rose & Avacado Cleansing Balm

Who doesn’t love a balm? At The Amazing Blog, we actively look for new natural balms, any balms that are for cleansing or moisturising the face, lips and body. Out of all of these, the cleansing balm is the winner for those of us living in London. The hard water here is full of calcium and magnesium compounds that not only causes limescale but strips our skin of all its natural oils, which can then lead to large pores, dry skin rashes, itching or worse rosacea! That’s why we want to talk about a natural cleansing balm from British indie brand Netsai.

Netsai was founded by Esnath Moyo in 2019, when she realised that most beauty brands on the market never represented the people that she identified with. Wanting to be an example to her loved ones and making sure that they would all be accepted for their beautiful selves, she set herself a challenge to create her own beauty brand Netsai. This is where she followed her dream, to produce this skincare, promising products that would hold innovation, support sustainability, diversity and inclusion. This cruelty-free and organic brand promote community helping change lives by ‘inspiring confidence in the marginalised’ that’s then reflected into every day. We applaud you Esnath!

Back to balms. With our love of balms, we chose to review the Rose and Avocado Cleansing Balm. This is suitable for all skin types; it’s a luxurious balm and contains a plethora of great ingredients. Let’s start with the key ingredients of shea butter, which is highly concentrated in fatty acids and vitamins, and also has anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Then the lactic acid which is an anti-wrinkle and pigmentation-fighting ingredient. It’s an alternative to glycolic acid which means that it’s less irritating, yet just as effective and an excellent ingredient for sensitive skin. The carnauba wax is actually an edible ingredient, as an emollient, it has a high melting point and can be used for thickening skincare as well as being a deeply hydrating moisturiser. Avocado oil, will deeply penetrate the skin to nourish, soften and boost your skin’s immunity against environmental stresses. What makes this balm even more of an exceptional hydrator is its richness with the coconut oil.  Lavender in this is for a deep cleanse and to calm any redness and irritation. Rose oil is the antioxidant powerhouse, which will strengthen skin cells and regenerate skin tissues. If you have dry skin, then this will help hydrate it, and finally, the addition of orange flower water which is a good toner that balances oils brightening the complexion.

We applied 10p size dollop of the cleansing balm, with a spatula from the jar, into our hands. We then warmed it up in our palms and spread it liberally over a dry face and neck. Massaged in for 60 seconds and splashed with warm water to emulsify, rubbed in a little more and then wiped it away with a damp cloth. It integrated easily into our skincare routine and this natural high performing formula even melted away make-up and SPF, all in one go. What set this apart for us, is its ability to be used as a make-up remover or as a second cleanse, where it worked like magic with the hard water and left our complexions clean and soft. If you live in a city with hard water, you need this cleansing balm! See here for your 60ml jar for £18.00.

Funny Bee Paris - Honey Magic

We here at The Amazing Blog care about love skincare products that deeply cleanse our skin without stripping our skin of its natural moisture. With the Honey Magic Cleansing Balm from Funny Bee Paris, we get the best of both worlds, since it hydrates deeply while cleansing skin. It’s simply un-bee-lievable!

This 2-in-1 formula is gentle enough for daily use and can be used as both a cleanser and a moisturiser. To use as a cleanser, simply rub the oil in between your palms, massage into skin and rinse with warm water. If you’d rather use it as a mask, apply it to your skin and leave it on for five minutes before massaging into skin and rinsing clean.

It contains organic honey, jojoba and omega-3 oils to gently nourish and hydrate skin. It can even be applied near the eye area to prevent crow’s feet. We loved how well it moisturised our skin without irritation. Plus, it smells lovely due to all of the essential oils it contains, so it relaxed us as well.

Jane Scrivner - Nourishing Cleanser

laras tuesday cleanser A few weeks back we featured on The Amazing Blog Jane Scrivner's Skin Elixir - a luxurious balancing face oil that leaves your skin feeling hydrated, restored and plumped. Today we're lucky enough to be featuring Jane Scrivner's hero product: The Nourishing Cleanser. I've waited quite a while to write this review on purpose - I really wanted to get the most of this cleanser. All I can say is that if I could, I would have a lifetime supply of this and never ever look back.

The product is a luxurious and thick balm cleanser that mixed with a bit of warm water turns into this almost creamy and ever-so soft cleansing milk. I use Jane Scrivner's Nourishing Cleanser every other day; whenever I want to treat my skin or when it's feeling a bit temperamental. This unique balm is Jojoba Oil and Beeswax based blended with 9 skin loving essential oils. Jane Scrivner's Nourishing Balm comes with a Fluffy Mitt that I wet with warm water and I gently rub on my skin to remove the cleanser and any make-up residue. The Fluffy Mitt is soft and it's easily washed in warm water with the rest of your laundry, or in my case, with the rest of my flannels.

The only things that I dislike about this balm (if 'dislike' is the best word to use... it may exaggerate what I want to say), is that I find that the balm doesn't have enough slip on the skin; that is why I need to add just teeny bit more of water. Overall, Jane Scrivner's Nourishing Cleanser has become a staple in my skincare routine - whenever I use it my skin feels soft, deeply cleansed and hydrated. This balm cleanser is a definite winner for me and for The Amazing Blog.

For a full list of stockists please visit Jane Scrivner's website. The Nourishing Balm retails at £45... and as Jane herself says "It's not just a cleanser, it's beautiful skin in a jar". Worth every single penny for sure.
