Little Green's CBD : Unwind Candle

As we kick off the new year, finding new ways to improve our hectic lifestyle and reduce stress, we're making a priority. Here at The Amazing Blog, it is no secret that we are huge fans of CBD, as it helps relax our minds and improve our focus. Regular readers will know we’re also big fans of scented candles, so when we received the UNWIND Candle by CBD wellness brand Little Green's CBD, we knew we were in for a treat.

Little Green's CBD was founded by former personal trainer and model, Sasha Green. Having worked for over ten years in these professions, he noticed the stressful impact they were having on both his body and mind. Sasha started using CBD products on his journey to find a holistic way to help deal with stress, sleep, and recovery, but his experience was not exactly what he was hoping for. With his research and difficulty to find top-quality CBD products that also offered full transparency, it inspired him into creating his own brand, Little Green's CBD. Sasha explained, "Little Green's CBD was created with the main focus on being high quality, and where each product had a specific purpose." The brand has a range of CBD products that include candles, oils and a balm, where each is aimed at targeting a specific need. The candles have been developed to promote a sense of calm and help de-stress, the oils, one for the day to combat stress and anxiety, and the other to be taken at night to improve sleep patterns, and the balm to relieve pain and revitalise overworked bodies. Both the candles and oils are made from the broad-spectrum distillate, which is THC-free and uses the whole plant to retain the full-plant synergy. Sasha himself has benefited from using the products and commented, "These CBD products have helped me immensely and have become an integral part of my self-care routine." The emphasis here is on the importance of full transparency, as they work with a certified government supplier, and all their products are developed and tested in the UK. The brand also conducts thorough in-house testing at its factory and sends all products to a third-party lab for further testing. They also work closely with hemp plant farmers who avoid using pesticides, which means the CBD will be additive-free, with a more natural and sustainable growing approach. The company works towards safeguarding the environment by using a more eco-friendly extraction method, and through their partnership with One Tree Planted This charity aims to help with global reforestation, they plant a tree for each product sold. We were also happy to hear all their products are made from natural ingredients and are vegan-friendly and cruelty-free.

The UNWIND Candle is made from 100% eco soy wax and is infused with CBD to soothe the mind and body. Soy wax, derived from soybeans, known to be an excellent carrier oil. As a natural and renewable resource, soy wax is biodegradable and has a lower melting point than other waxes commonly used for candle-making. This difference means that soy wax candles will burn cleaner and longer, and emit less black soot than other candle composites. This candle uses a natural hand-made cotton wick, which also means it burns longer and emits less smoke. The infusion of 1500mg of broad-spectrum distillate allows the candle to harness the soothing and healing plant powers of CBD. When this candle is lit, and the fragrance fills its surroundings, the CBD here offers benefits such as boosting mood and promoting a sense of relaxation and relieving insomnia. The candle also includes a blend of essential oils with holistic and aromatherapeutic properties combining tobacco absolute, lemon, mint and jasmine – which create a warm and comforting oaky scent. The tobacco fosters an enriching and energising aroma which has been proven effective in relieving symptoms such as mild depression. The zesty lemon oil fights fatigue and listlessness, and the refreshing peppermint has uplifting qualities with compounds that promote muscles relaxation. As for jasmine essential oil, it's believed to relax the nervous system while also improving mood and wellbeing. For those looking for new ways to integrate CBD into their lives, this candle is perfect, as the CBD is not ingested, so the effects are more gradual as the candle disperses its scent into the atmosphere. Let us explain; as this CBD infused candle burns, the uplifting aroma from the CBD and essential oils stimulates the cell receptors, transmitting tranquil messages throughout the nervous and limbic system (the part of the brain that regulates emotion). Burning a candle is a great way to unwind and promote a feeling of calm and serenity, so adding CBD into the mix only further enhances these positive effects.

By lighting a candle, it offers a soothing and intimate ambience, which is precisely what we all need to start this New Year by feeling calmer and stronger. This CBD infused candle's burn time is around 30-35 hours, but we suggest trimming the candle wick around ¼ of an inch to make it last longer. Remember that you should only snip the wick when it is completely cool and always clean off any smut or remnants. This hand-poured 20cl UNWIND Candle (with 1500mg CBD) is available for purchase directly from Little Green's CBD website here are now on offer at £29.

Clarity Blend - Mind Spa Bath & Body Oil

At this time of year, at The Amazing Blog, some of the favourite things we enjoy are aromatherapy based products - especially when we can add them into a long de-stressing hot soak. This is where this multi-tasking Mind Spa Body & Bath Oil from Clarity Blend’s comes to our aid. Also for Christmas gift ideas, we thought we’d kick off with Clarity Blend, and share a few more in the run-up to the big day.

Clarity Blend is a natural aromatherapy brand based in the heart of Berkshire, where they offer well-being and at-home spa products for a more balanced, positive, and healthier lifestyle. Bulgarian born Veronika and Dimitar Vasilev, founders of Clarity Blend, wanted to start a brand that shares their passion for aromatherapy. Their love for essential oils was founded when the couple wanted to reconnect with themselves and nature, helping to give them a calmer way of life. “With happy memories of growing up surrounded by the aromatic meadows of the Bulgarian countryside, we found ourselves craving the feeling of calm that time spent in nature had given us.” Their journey began after a long search for natural, non-toxic and sustainable products, that would fit their remit. So, they started with research combining nature’s best from woods, flowers, resins, and fruit essential oils to create quality products with the help of top clinical aromatherapists, and finally launching their two initial ranges with Sweet Dreams and Energy Boost. Clarity Blend values education and sharing the power of aromatherapy and its many benefits with its loyal customers. “The power of aromatherapy is a wonderful thing, and we’re passionate about sharing its benefits so you can enjoy a more balanced, positive, and healthier lifestyle. We like to call it ‘Nature in a bottle,” and they went on to say, “We source pure essential oils from all over the world and sprinkle a touch of our Bulgarian heritage into our blends. Our aim from the outset was to capture the essence of the meandering meadows and flowery scents of our childhoods and share their natural benefits.” All products are eco-friendly, 100% natural, vegan and free from artificial fragrances, parabens, sulphates, phthalates and SLSs. In addition, they are handmade in the UK under Good Manufacturing Practice using oils sourced from worldwide reliable suppliers. A core value of Clarity Blend is never harming endangered or vulnerable plant species. However, what makes this brand even more noteworthy is its sustainability efforts, where they use glass products, bamboo and rubber-capped glass, and metal roller balls to minimise the use of unnecessary plastic. Even their hampers and delivery boxes are made with kraft boxes, fully recyclable filling or biodegradable peanut pellets. They now have ten collections and within each of these are four different products with Body & Bath Oil, Bath Salts Roll-on and a Diffuser Blend.

The Mind Spa range focuses on relieving stress, anxiety, irritableness, and tension in daily life. Truly an at-home spa experience, filled with four key essential oils eucalyptus, patchouli, bergamot and lemongrass. Eucalyptus eases breathing, giving one a sense of fresh air and the feeling of a deep breath. This fresh and clean smell is one of our favourite oils of all time. Patchouli has antidepressant properties that help the nervous system and emotions become more balanced. It also gives this product a sweet and earthy scent. The Sicilian bergamot is fresh, citrusy with hints of floral, and exudes positive and happy vibes. Lastly, lemongrass helps reduce fatigue and lack of motivation by stimulating the mind and emotions. We’re focusing today on the Body & Bath Oil. This product is a good body oil that nourishes and moisturises the skin while also treating the mind and spirit, particularly when inhaling the aroma. In addition to the essential oils, this Body & Bath Oil also has the carrier oils of jojoba and almond. Both these oils treat dry skin while also reducing the appearance of stretch marks and scars. We were curious to try this product as it recently received the Bronze Award for Best 100% Natural product at the Global Green Beauty Awards 2021 and was a finalist for best body oil at the Natural Health Beauty Awards 2021. We put a few drops in our hands to warm it up. As directed, we applied it directly after shower or bath on warm, dry skin, then massaged it in gentle circular motions towards the heart. We also think that you could add a few drops of this oil to a warm bath for even greater relaxation. We liked how there was no oily greasy residue, and it absorbed quickly and thoroughly into the skin. It made us feel balanced, focused and boosted our end of the week self-care night. Whether you’re a beginner or avid lover of aromatherapy, the brand offers the opportunity to join their Wellness Club where you’ll receive valuable tips for healthy living. Plus, members get a free digital copy of our Wellness Pocket Companion and 10% off on all orders. To purchase Clarity Blend’s 100ml Mind Spa Body & Bath Oil, for £16, see here.

Object : Moisturising Shampoo Bar

At The Amazing Blog, we like to find new and artisan natural brands to talk about, and today, we’re featuring an award-winning eco-friendly natural haircare from the British artisan brand Object. We tried out their  Moisturising Shampoo Bar and their purposefully designed Light Weight Travel Tin shampoo bar container.

Object, is co-founded by Jack Wolton and Hugo Tylor, and focuses on providing “natural, ethical, and plastic-free products.” After struggling to find hair and body care brands that offer both sustainable and high-quality ingredients, Wolton and Tylor decided in December 2020 to create their own. The two are eager to offer new alternatives to wasteful plastic packaging, while also providing well-designed and effective natural ingredients. Object launched to fill this gap in the market and is built on the principles of creating natural alternatives and “objecting to the status quo” - hence the inspiration for the brand name! The founders also want to tackle and create awareness of social and environmental issues and in a recent interview with It’s Nice That, Wolton describes here how they care a lot about inclusivity and promote acceptance and diversity, and celebrate being ‘different’ in everything that they do. They also donate a percentage of their sales to local charities, plus they have a strict code of ethics which all their suppliers must comply with. To reflect their values, they do not use any chemicals in their products and only use natural ingredients, which can be found on their website here. The brand takes its sustainability efforts even further by being a waterless and plastic-free brand. The packaging is made from 50% recycled cotton, and they only use FSC (The Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper and cartons. They have gained brand recognition for their eco-friendly efforts, as their Moisturising Shampoo Bar was recently awarded Gold for the Best Sustainable Hair Product at the 2021 Global Green Beauty Awards. Object has also received the Butterfly Mark Certification by Positive Luxury to show how they meet the “highest verified sustainability standards.”

As fans of shampoo bars, we couldn’t wait to try this Moisturising Shampoo Bar. We find that shampoo bars tend to last longer than liquid shampoos, and are gentler on the hair and scalp as they don’t contain sodium lauryl sulfate or ammonium lauryl sulfate, which can contribute to dry hair. The Moisturising Shampoo Bar is gender-inclusive, handmade in Spain, and does not use any sulphates, parabens, artificial colouring, or palm oil. As regular readers will know, palm oil contributes to deforestation, and the sulphates can lead to a dry and irritated scalp. This award-winning bar is made from moringa, jojoba and argan oils, blended together with coconut milk and essential oils. The moringa oil, made from the seeds of a moringa oleifera (a type of tree found in the Himalayan mountains), is packed with omega-3, which moisturises and strengthens the hair and scalpJojoba oil contains a blend of oils, vitamins, and minerals that help to regulate scalp sebum production, and leave hair feeling hydrated. As for argan oil, it helps soothe and nourish hair cuticles with its vitamin E and fatty acidsThe coconut milk here is also packed with omega-3 fatty acids, along with vitamin E to fight against serum build-up in the hair. The combination of these ingredients helps hair to have more volume and shine and overall be more healthy. The sustainable nature of this product also is important to point out, as it’s all-natural, vegan, 100% plastic-free, and cruelty-free. Did you know that a shampoo bar saves the waste of up to three shampoo bottles? The bar also has a fragrance combination of earthy and citrus scent that is derived from the blend of ylang-ylang, cedarwood, citronella, and lavender essential oils. We found it long-lasting and both refreshing and nourishing for the hair. To use the shampoo bar, we soaked our hair and rubbed the bar in our hands to create a frothy lather, and worked it into our scalp. We then ran the bar down the hair strands to cleanse and finally rinsed. The shampoo bar left our hair squeaky clean with zesty fragrance; however, we did need to follow up with our regular conditioner to leave it tangle-free.

What we also like the ergonomically designed shampoo bar container, Object's Light Weight Travel Tin, to store the bar and to help to make it last longer. It’s made from rust-proof aluminium with strong durability and a screw top to prevent leaking. This container is perfect for draining your shampoo bar dry straight from the shower or for travel purposes. They suggest frequently emptying water from the tin, and ensuring that the bar is dry before putting it into the tin. The Light Weight Travel Tin can be purchased here for £5, and the Moisturising Shampoo Bar can be purchased here for £14.

Soya Garden : Soy Mask

There's something rather magical about the way skincare can lift our spirits and motivate us to be our best! At The Amazing Blog, we're big fans of face masks, as they enhance one of our most cherished pastimes of slipping into our pajamas and chatting for hours with our friends. Today we are featuring Soya Garden, a natural skincare from New Zealand, with their Soy Mask, perfect for using on these dark autumn nights-in.

Soya Garden launched in 2020, inspired by nature's adaptability and endurance. They spent 18 months sourcing potent soy extracts and natural ingredients, harnessing their properties to develop a clean and balanced skincare line. Soya Garden's goal is to create formulas that don't change how you look but change the way you feel, helping you feel more healthy, vibrant, and comfortable in your skin. Their philosophy is about making you feel confident through their products because when we feel more confident, we have the power and motivation to lift up the world! Their formulations contain bioactive soy extracts, as well as naturally occurring vitamins, antioxidants, and nutrients. One of these natural ingredients is γ-pga®. Also known as Natto Gum, γ-pga® is an extract first discovered in Natto, a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans. It promotes the natural moisturising factor's growth inside the cuticle cells, making skin softer and more moisturised. Another ingredient is Mang'in tense®, an organic active ingredient extracted from mango that promotes hyaluronic acid synthesis, replenishing water and locking in moisture. It also is high in antioxidants and phytochemicals that protect the skin from the free radicals that induce ageing. Soya Garden also has the Fernmark License, a trademark issued and endorsed by the New Zealand Government. When a New Zealand brand has the Fernmark License, it means that the brand is confirmed to be produced within New Zealand, compliant with all New Zealand laws and regulations. Also, with this Fernmark License, you can trust that the products are certified to be safe and reliable.

Soya Garden sent us their award-winning Soy Mask, a multi-functional mask that dissolves away dryness and improves firmness and lustre. It has a light and creamy consistency, and we were pleasantly surprised by its slight floral fragrance - no smell of soy here! The mask offers many key benefits. It swiftly delivers potent nutrition into the skin, protects the skin from the damaging effects of dryness, reduces pigmentation, increases collagen production, and reduces roughness and fine lines. The mask contains three key ingredients, the first of which is lysofix. Lysofix is a natural lysophospholipid extracted from a non-GMO soybean source that reduces water loss, maintaining the skin's moisture and protecting the integrity of the skin's barrier. It's a mild, non-allergenic, and non-irritating ingredient that's suitable for delicate and sensitive skin. It also contains manuka honey, extracted from the nectar of the native New Zealand manuka flowers. It's rich in nutrients, vitamins, amino acids, and minerals that feed, protect, and renew the skin while offering antimicrobial and healing properties. Manuka honey is also a humectant, meaning that it draws in and retains moisture. The last key ingredient is tocopheryl, (most commonly known as vitamin E). It's a potent antioxidant that captures free oxygen radicals generated by exposure to light or pollution, helping to prevent further skin damage. It also can boost the protection against damaging UV rays, helping to prevent premature skin ageing too. To use the mask, apply it on cleansed skin, with an even layer, just thick enough to cover the skin’s surface, avoiding the eye and lips. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes, and then rinse with water. They recommend following it up with a moisturiser (such as their Soya Garden Lotion). It is so light and fluffy; we almost forgot that we had it on! It left skin soft and hydrated and this 100ml pot gave us about five applications. To purchase the Soya Garden Soy Mask, visit here, where you can buy 100ml for $79.95NZD.

Makosh : EQUILIBRIUM Lavender & Neroli Room Mist

makosh1.jpg

Regular readers of The Amazing Blog will know that apart from beauty and well-being products, we also love to feature home fragrances like candles, diffusers, and room mists. These Inspire us to be more positive on days when we’re feeling a little jaded or down. For us,  there’s nothing better than a wonderful fragrance that uplifts the spirits and offers aromatherapeutic benefits too. We first came across the Slovenian brand Makosh and their EQUILIBRIUM Room Mist in Lavender & Neroli, when they won an award with 2021 The Beauty Shortlist Awards, and it took us on an olfactory journey to the Mediterranean.

Makosh is a range of natural skincare and fragrances founded in 2020 by Nina Medved, an aromatherapist, botanical perfumer, and formulator. She discovered essential oils 20 years ago after travelling to New York when she began to use these essential oils to improve her overall well-being. Making the connection between aromatherapy and its benefits for mental and physical health. Nina said, “This is where I discovered a strong connection between smell, psyche, and skin and I realised the power of smell as a support in personal growth and treatment of both physical and mental problems.” It led her on to opening an aromatherapy school named Magnolia, where even today she trains others on the holistic and healing approach.  Since 2011, Nina has been teaching educational workshops in Perfumery, Aromatherapy, or Natural Cosmetics, and she’s also has written articles, and made regular local TV guest appearances. Through Makosh, Nina combines her knowledge, experience and her passion to help others. Makosh is named after the Slavic goddess of fertility, protector of women and motherhood. Like Makosh hereself, Nina hopes to inspire women to celebrate their mistakes and authenticity, with products that offer support and act as channels for emotional growth. Nina also believes that we must contribute to the health of the planet, and takes care to select environmentally friendly ingredients and packaging at every step of production. All products are 100% naturaland wherever possible, organic ingredients are used. Makosh is transparent about its formulas, listing ingredients clearly and creating Mediterranean-based fragrances made from 100% natural essential oils, absolutes, and using mainly CO2 extracts. Product packaging includes biodegradable Miron glass (a glass that blocks UVA/B light and protects fragile natural ingredients), and the outer packaging consists of partially recycled paper blended with hemp fibresNina also focuses on Makosh's emissions, using only local suppliers and focuses on ingredients from Europe with regional origin.

Makosh sent us this award-winning Room Mist with EQUILIBRIUM Lavender & Neroli to try. They believe that by spritzing one of their Room Mists can instantly transform the vibration and feel of a living space. The Room Mists are created to “build a bridge between aromatherapy and traditional perfumery, with a holistic approach.” Makosh harnesses the potent properties from each of the organic botanicals to create an individual fragrance for well-being, not just for yourself, but to be shared with others. These mists can be used to not only help to improve general mood, but also air quality, and to refresh and neutralise any unpleasant smells. EQUILIBRIUM Lavender & Neroli, is as the name suggests, for creating balance - it has the element of water. As one of the four elements, water has been used to communicate the sacred value of life; the spiritual dimension of purification, protection, and healing. The top notes of this mist are made with organic essential oils such as lavender, mandarin, and petitgrain bigard; the middle notes are neroli and roman chamomile, and the bottom notes of benzoin, copaiba, and vetiver. The key ingredients are lavender with it’s has anti-anxiety benefits, creating a relaxing sensation that can aid with sleep and insomnia. Neroli extracted from the blossom of the bitter orange tree, can lower blood pressure by reducing cortisol. It also promotes the release of serotonin, reducing stress, anxiety, and anxiety-induced depression. Roman chamomile helps to calm mood swings, and benzoin for centuries has been used in religious ceremonies and medical practices as it’s known to stabilise mood. When these botanicals are combined they give a fresh, citrus, and floral scent that offers a feeling of tranquillity. As Nina says, “The synergy of the essential oils of real lavender, neroli and mandarin creates a feeling of inner peace and mystical equilibrium. A ticket to an unforgettable journey of all the senses!” You can use this mist at any time, for us, the fragrance evoked memories of lemon groves, warm seas, and soft sand underfoot. We found that spritzing it at the end of the day – quietened our busy minds and led us into a state of relaxation. These natural ingredients work to balance the flow of energy around you and reduce negative ions. We think to get the maximum benefits, it needs to be sprayed around you like an aura. This can be done with eyes closed, taking slow deep breaths allowing you to take in and experience the moment. it could also be used not only as room spray but also for meditation or even as a pillow mist. Makosh also has another Room Mist VIRAGO Juniper & White Fir with properties to help ‘invigorate’ your space, this time with the element of air. Air symbolises communication, perception, creativity, and harmony. Whichever one you decide to choose, we think that either of these Room Mists will transport you into another more tranquil and harmonious space. If you'd like to try these Room Mists, you can purchase a 50ml bottle here for €29.00.
