Friday Favourites - Lipsticks

Lips are such a prominent feature on the face, here at the Amazing Blog we love ours to stand out and ooze confidence. We have chosen a few of our favourite lip products to perfect that pout.

Whether it’s an intense plump your after or a just a glossy enhancement, these glosses will cater for you. Now if you are more of a matte finish girl, Urban Decay’s new Matte Revolution Lipsticks will be your new best friend. We had the opportunity to try colours Tilt, Bad Blood and After Dark, each colour was extremely pigmented and super creamy. Once you’ve finished admiring the gorgeous colour in the mirror, you’ll notice that even as they dry to a matte finish your lips still retain their moisture. We made the mistake of leaving swatches to dry on our hands, and soon found out that it has some serious staying power!

From the colours we tried, there is one to fit everyone, Tilt is an extremely bright orange-toned red, while Bad Blood is an intense, blue-toned red. For those who are more adventurous, After Dark is a gorgeous deep plum with purple reflects which give it a beautiful sheen in the light. Here at The Amazing Office we have found the latest beauty secret and we want to share it with you. We have always watched in envy at the girls who can flutter their long and thick eyelashes and after trying numerous of so called thickening mascaras we were about to give up until we found MioLash. Mio Lash 3D Fibre Lash Mascara provides dramatically longer and thicker lashes in less than a minute.

Filberts of Dorset - Lip Balm Kit

Ever struggle to find lip balms that don't dry out your lips with sneaky unwanted ingredients? We know we do! When considering lip care, we here at The Amazing Blog like to know exactly what has gone into our balms. Lucky for us, Filberts of Dorset are on the same wavelength and have invited you to make your own.

In a pretty tin, the brand's Lip Balm Kit looks quintessentially D.I.Y-esque before you've even started. Containing a block of beeswax with an iconic bee impression to adorn, blank labels, four lip balm tins and simple, easy to follow instructions, it's the perfect starting point for concocting your own lip treat. Beeswax is well known for its emollient properties, and sets easily, making it the ideal base for your balm. After melting it down, and adding olive oil and sunflower oil as instructed, we were well on our way to mastering the art of 'lip-balmery', and we can't think of a more nourishing blend of ingredients. You can then simply leave it there, wait for the balm to set and cool before trying it out, or you can have a little fun as we did, and play with natural essential oils to find out which recipe best suits you.

Skin can be so temperamental; one day we are flawless and radiant, and the next, we break out with blemishes or dry patches. This is incredibly frustrating, but here at The Amazing Blog, we have found the perfect mid-week pick-me-up to treat all of these concerns. Ark have created a Hydration Injection Masque to rejuvenate and nourish skin of all ages.

Part of the new Skin Perfector range, this is an intense and effective treatment mask. Peter's Yard - Knacks Crispbread Bites

Like most of London, here at The Amazing Blog, we're struggling to get back into the swing of things after the Christmas season.  We're particularly struggling to let go of our Christmas indulgences and curb the snacks that we've been nibbling on freely for the past week or two. But our blue Monday has become a little more bearable now that we have Knacks Crispbread Bites for a little pre-lunch snack. Peter’s Yard have launched three delicious new flavours of their baked crispbread bites; Sea Salt, Five Seed and Cumin & Nigella Seed, and now we're happy to keep on snacking.

The bites are great for a number of snacking occasions. Sea Salt is light and crispy with the addition of Halen Môn Sea Salt, making them the perfect base for canapés with drinks. Our favourites are the Five Seed because they have a more rustic texture with the additional healthy mix of pumpkin, sunflower, poppy, linseed and chia seeds. Cumin & Nigella Seed has a crunchy texture derived from linseeds and a warming flavour from the special whole spice mix that includes cumin, nigella seed, caraway, anise and fennel. Each flavour is based on a Peter’s Yard’s classic recipe, made with high fibre and all-natural ingredients including organic whole-wheat flour, rye sourdough and organic fresh milk.
