Amoorra - Bath Bombs for the Shower

We find that there’s a 50/50 split at The Amazing Blog as to whether we’re a shower or bath person. Today we’ve found some rather innovative Bath Bombs for the Shower by Amoorra perfect for perking you up in the morning or winding down at night. We love to try anything new that’ll give us that home-spa experience.

Amoorra is formerly known as SHOBU and is a brand founded by two busy mums who wanted to create a home-spa experience, without all the cleaning up afterwards! Being time-poor, luxuriating in a bath was a complete no-no, hence they came up with the concept of this ‘shower bomb’. These Amoorra Bath Bombs for the Shower tablets are vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, natural and all ingredients are ethically and sustainably sourced. They are designed to melt away without any no residue, oils or colour in the shower, while leaving a relaxing aroma that fills the bathroom. It works with the steam to create a home spa experience, meaning that you enjoy eight to ten minutes of steam to help you to relax, refresh and renew. We received three of these Bath Bombs for the Shower. The first to talk about is  Peace,  it’s a pale pink speckled tablet with a floral blend of rose and jasmine, inspiring a sense of calm. The rose oil here reduces stress and anxiety;  it stimulates the release of the chemical dopamine, leaving you with a happier mood. The jasmine oil is an anti-depressant, where inhaling the vapours will help to increase positive feelings and uplift energy levels. This shower bomb could be used on either side of the day to inspire and motivate or to give an overall sense of inner peace and calm. The second we tried is Calm,  if you’re looking to indulge yourself with this rich mix of chamomile, clove and cardamom that brings that luxurious spa into the home, then this is for you! In a white tablet form with amber coloured flecks; the chamomile ingredient is famous for its calming properties and is probably best known for being consumed in tea for a good night’s sleep. Therefore, no surprises to find it here.  An anxiety reliever it helps promote sleep can help to soothe irritability, we found that this little tablet created a serene bubble of steam in the shower. It blends well with the clove with its warming aroma which is known to help enrich the mind. Finally, the cardamom has antibacterial properties that help heal breakouts acting as a skin purifier by clearing pores, plus here it works to soothing the respiratory system. This tablet is warming, relaxing and gives a feeling of tranquillity. Last but not least, Sleep, just like its name suggests, this delicate mixture of lavender, bergamot and vetiver is for relaxing the mind and body before a good night’s rest. If you require a little extra help to drift off, then this is for you. The fragrance of the lavender helps in promoting a feeling of wellness and reduced stress. Beckford's White Pearl Rum & Coconut

We can feel the autumn nights drawing in, which of course, now gives us a good excuse to have a warming tot of rum! The Amazing Blog is back with Beckford’s Rum but this time with their new addition of White Pearl Rum & Coconut – yum!

Beckford’s Rums are named after and in honour of the one Beckford from history that Society can be proud of. Henry Beckford was a freed slave who attended the world's first anti-slavery congress by invitation, it was held in 1840 in London.  An ardent abolitionist he was accepted into polite society and became a beacon of light emerging from a dark past. This elixir of White Pearl Rum & Coconut is as clear as crystal and with no caramel-like hue. We found this to be a much purer drink than the Rum & Caramel and far less like a liqueur. You may ask, what's the difference between light and dark rum?  When rum is first distilled, it’s always clear; light, silver or white rum is aged for less time than the other varieties. We bet you like us at The Amazing Blog you wish right now, that you were luxuriating on a Greek island – rather than sitting behind your desk! LENGLING Parfum Munich - No 9 Wunderwind Extrait de Parfum

A scent can immediately change your mood, bringing good memories back or creating new and exciting ones. Finding that one and only fragrance that encompasses your style, personality and suits each season - is a case of trial and error. This is why we at The Amazing Blog love exploring new fragrances. It’s always so interesting to see how each person’s skin interacts, together with the different perceptions we have of the same fragrance. For these reasons, we were thrilled to receive the deliciously summery No 9 Wunderwind Extrait de Parfum from LENGLING MUNICH. 

LENGLING Parfum Munich was founded by partners Ursula and Christian Lengling in Germany in 2014, launching with their first collection a series of seven scents ‘Extraits de Sentiment’. They use only the finest ingredients inspired by the purest forms of nature, all of which are hand-poured into each bottle. They combine elegance with sustainability by making sure that their formulations are vegan. The silver Isar pebble design found on their hand-polished perfume stopper is the heart of their inspiration, this pebble originates from Isartal (south of Munich) where many people use it as a lucky charm or for meditation. Their fragrances are based on two ingredients that contrast (i.e. are opposites) but also complement each other. They like to call these their ‘LENG’ and ‘LING’ notes. As they say, opposites attract, and with combinations like raw cedar and soft vanilla or dark leather notes mixed with candyfloss, the fragrances used in each bottle are a juxtapose designed to stimulate the senses.  As Ursula Lengling says, “…they will touch you in the place where memories reside and feelings collide. No 9 - Wunderwind Extrait de Parfum is a bold and sensational scent launched by LENGLING in 2018. This fragrance won a Dufstars Award for 2018, (the German Oscars of perfumes). Their award was for Best Artistic Independent German Perfume. Which when we learned this, it gave us even more of a curiosity to try this exceptional unisex fragrance. The LENG notes here mirror a ‘shady pine tree grove’ with pine needles absolute, honey, rosemary, thyme absolute and resiny incense. Whereas the LING notes here are a ‘sunny sea’ with sea breeze tones, floral ozone notes, lemon, musk and watermelon. When we closed our eyes and spritzed, it transported us back to summer holidays, Greek islands, wandering through the pine and lemon groves to the beach where it meets the warm salty foaming sea. This for us, was deliciously citrus fresh with a hint of spice. Thyme and rosemary are the Mediterranean herbs that gently waft together with the honey and soft musk as the base notes. They say that it is to: “Let it all go and fly free. Danilo Manco - Gustoso Organic Apple Vinegar

Summer is really here (in between the rain showers!) and what better way to enjoy our new outdoor life than with a gorgeous salad (or a cocktail*) with Gustoso Organic Apple Vinegar.  At The Amazing Blog, all the girls and I love to try new products that have a twist, and we certainly haven’t tried an organic apple vinegar before… 

Sent to us by The Olive Oil Company, this organic apple vinegar is produced by Danilo Manco in Italy. The term ‘vinegar’ actually refers to the two-step process of fermentation from a carbohydrate to an alcohol and then to acetic acid. Sugar is converted into alcohol, which is then fermented into vinegar. This vinegar comes from the wonderful Modena area in the Emilia Romagna region Italy; and has been made from organically grown apples and then stored in wooden casks.  This process concentrates the flavours while allowing the microorganisms necessary to convert the apples into vinegar to enter the barrels. The longer the ageing time, the better the end product is. The mother apple vinegar (a substance composed of a form of cellulose and acetic acid bacteria that develops naturally during the fermentation process) turns the alcohol into acetic acid with the help of the oxygen present in the air. NB this is not apple ‘cider’ vinegar it is a pure apple vinegar made in the balsamic style. In order to maintain the delicious taste and natural antioxidant properties of the vinegar, it only contains the best selection of Italian organic apples. These are then turned into a concentrated apple juice and mixed with the mother organic apple vinegar.  The result is both yummy and healthy!  No wonder it received the Great Taste 3-star award in 2019.  

After all the baking and snacking we’ve been doing, a salad which only needs a dibble this apple-based balsamic vinegar is perfect for helping to shed the any extra kilos that might have crept on during our recent lockdown. You can taste the apple making it sweet, tangy and bursting with flavour. Dark brown in colour it is thicker than an ordinary vinegar and has the consistency almost of a balsamic glaze.  So a little goes a long way which is good as this is a luxury item. It combines well with scallops and prawns as well as adding it into strews.  Also, perfect drizzled on strawberries or in *cocktail such as this ‘Apple Vinegar Vodka Sipper.’  Take 30g of apple juice, 30 g of vodka and one teaspoon of GUSTOSO Organic Apple Vinegar. Add crushed ice and mix in a cocktail shaker, then serve and garnish with grapes on a cocktail stick.
