Mighty Green : Anti-Ageing CBD Face Cream

Yes, we admit it, we’re big fans of CBD infused products and always on the lookout for new discoveries. Today at The Amazing Blog we’re featuring CBD skincare Mighty Green and their Anti-Ageing CBD Face Cream; it’s a brand we stumbled upon last year at Professional Beauty.

Mighty Green is a UK-based company co-founded by Claudia Le Feuvre in 2019. Her passion for CBD grew out of her work as a nutritionist, where she observed the healing powers of CBD. She went on to develop Mighty Green with a team of experts who include healthcare professionals, a personal trainer, a psychologist, and even a facialist! Claudia hopes that Mighty Green can make a difference in people’s lives, in the most meaningful way it can – with their health. She also wants to make CBD as accessible as possible, offering a series of books for further education on CBD. In an interview with The Leaf Desk, Claudia explained why she started Mighty Green, “I looked into the marketplace, and there are so many discrepancies and a lack of standards. I was alarmed.” She went on to say, “I hope to bring credibility to the industry by sourcing high-quality CBD products. We got tempted by Mighty Green’s Anti-Ageing CBD Face Cream, which is formulated with the help of their in-house facialist. It’s a natural skincare that is infused with CBD broad-spectrum distillate and contains 150mg of CBD and CBG respectively. As we’ve discussed many times, CBD has demonstrated excellent anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant capacities in skincare - all of which we love. It also supports the skin’s natural cell cycle aiding in the replenishment and protection of skin. The addition of CBG or cannabigerol is a lesser-known cannabinoid found in the hemp plant. It helps boost the overall effect and has similar capabilities as CBD. Also rich in antioxidants, it fends off free radicals, making it an age-defying ingredient to help give skin a more youthful-looking appearance. The great thing about the combination of CBD and CBG - it keeps the skin free of excessive oil and bacteria and helps control oils produced by sebaceous glands. 

In addition to CBD and CBG, Mighty Green has added beta-glucan, and hyaluronic acid to their Anti-Ageing CBD Face Cream to lend moisturise and hydrate. Beta-glucan is a relatively new ingredient in cosmetics. It’s essentially polysaccharide sugars (or starch) extracted from oats and is a humectant that attracts water to the top layers of skin. Did you know that it has a 20% higher moisture capacitance than hyaluronic acid? Hyaluronic acid itself, as we’ve often discussed, plumps up the skin, smoothing out fine lines even if it is on a more temporary basis. Other key ingredients are essential oils and carrier oils, each playing a significant role in this cream. The carrier oils are neem, evening primrose, grapeseed and sweet almond oil. Whereas the essential oils are sweet orange and bergamot oil. Neem oil and evening primrose oil both contain anti-inflammatory linoleic acid and gamma-linolenic acid, which help sustain skin softness and elasticity to reduce the effects of ageing. Grapeseed oil protects skin from sun damage and, like neem and evening primrose oil increases skin elasticity and softness. Sweet almond oil has been used in ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic practices to treat skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It’s highly emollient and contains vitamin A, and E, with omega 3 fatty acids and zinc; these vitamins help reduce fine lines and aid in cell regeneration. The essential oils with sweet orange promote collagen production, and the bergamot stimulates skin cell renewal with the added bonus of being super helpful in ridding skin of blemishes and hyperpigmentation. All these ingredients come together to give this CBD Face Cream its silky smooth consistency.

EARTH from Earth: Damask Rose Skin Balm

It is no secret that here at The Amazing Blog, we value natural skincare products above all else. After all beauty trends come and go, but our skin is here for life, and so it’s imperative to take care of it. As always, we’re on the hunt for new and exciting products, and today’s latest discovery is from EARTH from Earth, with their Damask Rose Skin Balm.

EARTH from Earth is a wellness brand that focuses on natural and organic skincare, haircare and grooming products. Founded by Kehinde Ogunba, a graduate of Formula Botanics, who saw that there was a “gap in approachable and effective self-care products that are made with the right combination of herbs and unconventional superior plant oils and butter.” Ogunba works closely with Minomi Adejumo, who is the formulator and brand alchemist for EARTH from Earth. Adejumo is a qualified pharmacist and medical herbalist with expansive knowledge of both African and Western healing traditions. Adejumo has “a strong appreciation and experience in harnessing the therapeutic properties of numerous herbs and plant oils.” EARTH is a acronym for Essences Aromas Relaxation Therapy Healing. These ideas are what the brand aims to offer for the modern woman, man and family; since their products are formulated to “nourish, uplift, calm and balance mind, body and soul.” EARTH from Earth describes their range of products as “indulgent, potent, aromatic and nutrient-dense” with all-natural, organic plant oils and herbs that are chosen specifically for their “therapeutic abilities and extraordinary efficacy.” Every product is made in the UK and handcrafted to nourish, condition, moisturise, rejuvenate, restore, uplift and balance. The fragrances only come from the raw aroma of the natural ingredients combined with the “delicate blend of aromatherapy oils to evoke a deep sense of sensory awakening.” Most of their products are plastic-free in brown amber glass containers and housed in a biodegradable paper tubes, with earthy jute sacs to keep them safe. They made with 100% ethically-sourced herbs, plant oils and butters which are vegan and cruelty free.

EARTH from Earth’s Damask Rose Skin Balm contains a unique blend of antioxidants and vitamin-rich superior butters, plant oils and herbs. We love that the natural and organic ingredients create their own natural and raw aroma. This skin balm feels and smells luxurious. It is specifically formulated to provide deep nourishment, hydration and replenishment. This balm is laced with one of our favourite ingredients the rosa damescena, “carefully hand-picked early in the morning before they can open and release their precious scent, soothing and sensual as it infuses the skin with enriching nutrients.” The herbal extracts are produced in-house to ensure the essence of every herb is fully released into the oils. In short, this is a beautiful and delicately scented Balm which is free from water, alcohol, chemical preservatives, stabilisers and additives. We used it on face and body, concentrating on elbows, knees and lips. Hempura: Hemp Tea in Natural Raspberry

As regular readers will know, at The Amazing Blog, we’re big fans of CBD (see here) mainly because of the numerous benefits it provides, especially the calming effect, which is much needed during these uncertain times. We always try to seek out new and more unusual CBD products to introduce you to, and today we’re featuring another CBD infused tea, but this time it’s Hempura’s Hemp Tea in Natural Raspberry, which has no THC and a more summery and fruitier flavour. 

Hempura is a British brand launched in 2016 by Lewis Hadaway.  Passionate about CBD, he quit his job in nuclear project management to set up this CBD brand, Hempura, where even today, he is still very much hands-on. In this over-crowded and confusing world of CBD, Lewis wants to help inform and educate the consumer, providing us with high-quality authentic hemp extract CBD products, which are 100% traceable from seed to shelf. Hempura imports their raw cannabidiol from organic farms in Eastern Europe, where they use an advanced ethanol extraction method, for Hempura, they feel that this ensures the preservation of the naturally occurring terpenes, flavonoids, cannabinoids, nutrients and minerals present. Every batch produced is automatically sent to an approved third-party laboratory for complete analysis. Lewis recently commented, “We build relationships with our customers because CBD is a lifelong product.” He went on to say, “We empower our customers to make informed decisions. This reduces concerns and fears, especially for seniors.” The Hempura range consists of vapes, topicals, edibles and CBD Oils. The Original (full-spectrum) and the Refined (broad-spectrum) CBD oils contain the same amount of CBD. However, the Original contains all the natural hemp components (including the accepted amount of less than 0.05% THC) without the refinement of the broad-spectrum. There 10ml CBD Oil bottles with approximately 200 drops in each, and a strength starting from 250ml (2.5%) cannabidiol up to 1000mg (10%). The brand has been members of the Vegan Society since July 2019 (except the chocolates due to dairy) and all products are GMO free.

We originally wanted to try their CBD infused chocolate but, alas, these were out of stock. So, as it’s now summer, we thought trying this Hemp Tea in Natural Raspberry instead. Although THC-free, it’s still rich in natural terpenes and all-natural ingredients found in hemp and has 5% or 5mg of CBD (we think…from lab report) per tea bag. Let’s look at the ingredients. This has 100% organically grown hemp made with hemp leaves with no herbicides or pesticides. They say it’s free of additives (or not as the case may be!) We couldn’t quite understand why there is a ‘trace of propylene glycol’ here?! There are also dried raspberries with the addition of natural raspberry flavouring. Raspberries, themselves provide vitamin C with a small amount of vitamin A, thiamine (B1) and riboflavin (B2). Moving onto the potent terpenes found in this hemp CBD tea. With limonene, A-pinene, B-pinene and citral these have a hugely beneficial effect on the gut, intestine and also help to regulate blood pressure, see here. These combined are also known to help sleep and inflammation and studies have also shown that these terpenes can produce an antidepressant-like effect. We prepared the tea using one tea bag in the cup, and let it steep for about 5 minutes, until the tea was a glorious berry colour (see above photo). What we liked was that this had a robust and fruity taste, a far more complex and in-depth flavour than that of a regular fruit tea or plain hemp CBD tea. We think it’s ideal for the caffeine sensitive, or for those wanting a warming and fruity drink at night to help them relax and sleep.
