Portlebay Popcorn

These cold January nights are prime time for snackaholics, here at the Amazing Blog we are no exception. We wanted to find the perfect sweet snack for our movie nights that won't leave us feeling too guilty. Portlebay Popcorn have revolutionised popcorn with their new delicious Cappuccino flavour, we couldn’t wait to give it a try.

Portlebay Popcorn are a Devon-based crew that focus on bringing us a totally natural sweet treat, by simply popping the finest corn in small batches. It is easy to see that they do not compromise on the quality of their handmade products. The corn is simply popped with a little rapeseed oil and a sprinkle of raw cane sugar for that characteristic crunch that we love so much. Coffee lovers will be glad to know that the Cappuccino seasoning is delicious, it leaves you feeling as if you’ve had a shot of your favourite expresso without the caffeine hit! What we loved is that this popcorn has a unique flavour, and for only 115 calories per bag. We found it great for a lunchtime treat or poured into a big bowl for a movie night.

No need for expensive cinema popcorn when you can get a healthier and tastier option at home. If you want to try the Cappuccino popcorn, or various other flavours from Portlebay, then get yours here for only £6.80 for a pack of eight.

Joe & Seph's Gourmet Popcorn

While I love popcorn as much as the next person, I am loathe to spend the best part of £10 on a carton of the stuff at the cinema, especially when the contents are, more often than not, either too sweet or too salty, and generally have the consistency of soggy cardboard. Much of the supermarket stuff suffer from similar problems; and the flavour options are very limited, unlike their crisp counterparts. However, having spotted this gaping niche in the market of confectionery, Joe & Seph’s have come to the rescue. Producers of gourmet popcorn, the story began following numerous trips to the US in which they would return with the crème de la crème of popcorn, and in turn they went about making their very own British variety. The standard way of making popcorn is to pop it in an oil and sugar mix; with Joe & Seph’s popcorn the corn is air-popped and coated in a caramel made from fresh butter, hence the rather superior taste.

With an array of mouth-watering flavours on offer – from Brandy Butter, to Caramel & White Chocolate through to Toffee Apple & Cinnamon and beyond, Joe & Seph’s have also recently brought out a savoury range, perfect for those missing a sweet tooth. These include Goats Cheese & Black Pepper, Mature Irish Cheddar and Blue Cheese, Walnut & Celery, making Joe and Seph’s the poshest popcorn in town.

Available from Whole Foods, Selfridge, Harrods and at a number of independent retailers, stockists can be found online here. And with the gang at The Amazing Blog having tried and tested Joe & Seph’s Gourmet Popcorn, it’s safe to say it tastes every bit as good as it sounds!

Peter Popple's Popcorn

Here at Amazing PR we’re pretty smug that our office ‘snacks’ consist of healthy oat cakes and fruit and our office drink of choice is green tea (with the occasional box of chocolates thrown in when we’re lucky). However, as much as we like to tell ourselves that oatcakes are all we need to munch on when hunger strikes it’s fair to say a little variation wouldn’t go amiss. That’s why this afternoon the Amazing team are happy to have a healthy alternative to reach for when the 3 o’clock hunger pangs strike.

Peter Popple’s Popcorn is a new range of popcorn made with 100% natural flavours and ingredients. Designed to be a healthy and tasty snack for adults and children the popcorn has been ‘air popped’ meaning it has been popped without using any greasy oil. It’s naturally low in fat and each 20g serving contains less than 100 calories. What’s more, it’s also a good source of wholegrain and B vitamins to boost drooping energy levels. There are four flavours to choose from; Cheddar Cheese, Salt & Vinegar, Fruit Chutney and Golden Syrup so that you can get all the flavour from your favourite crisps or curb your sugar cravings without any of the guilt. It’s also perfect for snacking in front of the T.V. or if you want to be really smug you could bring a packet to the cinema while your friends wolf down their butter drenched extra large popcorn buckets!

Peter Popple’s popcorn is available to buy from good independent retailers and deli’s or online via the ‘popshop’ here.
