Essential Drops Bathroom Aromatics - Pomegranate & Lychee

Green specialises in skincare and is a chartered scientist, a chartered chemist, and a fellow of The Royal Society of Chemistry. He is a man with great expertise and has contributed to the formulations of many cosmetic brands in the UK & North America, and he also sits on several EU advisory committees. This brand is his first foray into the world of bathroom fragrance. These Essential Drops are excellent for eliminating unwanted and unpleasant smells, helping to maintain a fresh sweet fragranced bathroom by only using natural essential oils. This means that there are no artificial ingredients, they’re cruelty-free, vegan and locally produced. By sourcing their ingredients from reputable local suppliers, they can deliver high-quality products every time. We also like that their glass bottles are recyclable. They currently have a range of three different scent combinations: Grapefruit & Kumquat, Ginger & Black Pepper and Pomegranate & Lychee (which we are featuring today). 

The Pomegranate & Lychee comes in a frosted recyclable 50 ml glass bottle with a pipette top. Now that everyone is talking about a second lockdown, here at  The Amazing Blog we’re remembering that dreaded feeling of being house-bound, again! Somehow, we need to get our inside space to feel more like the outside, and with a few minor changes like adding a room fragrance, we find that this can help. Now with autumn here, we’ve already changed our room fragrance to something richer, earthy and more reflective of the season. Vanille & Tabac Noir Reed Diffuser is produced by blending several key base notes such as that of vanilla bean, patchouli and the warming sensual scent of the tobacco flower.  BTW did you know that Nicotiana tabacum (tobacco flower) has a long history of use by herbalists as a relaxant, as well as relieving nausea and travel sickness? Yes, that was news to us too! These ingredients are all enhanced with extracts of nutmeg, cardamom and basil leaves which give a warm and opulent aroma to this oil, with the added extra of a feeling of luxury and well-being. Puritx - Superior Hand Sanitisers

In this new strange world of COVID-19, none of us at TheAmazingBlog leave home without some sort of hand sanitiser tucked away in a pocket. However, knowing how we all like to use natural products, finding a hand sanitiser that has 99% natural ingredients has proved tricky to find – until now. We received two x 60ml samples to try. First the Manuka, Cedar & Grapefruit. This has a great combination of healing ingredients with the manuka honey here as the miracle worker, with its antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, studies show how it has wound-healing capabilities and tissue regeneration. Thus, it’s an effective skin barrier and helps to prevent any infection. Besides being an excellent mood lifter in aromatherapy, grapefruit essential oil also has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties too. Finally, the cedarwood in this blend is an all-natural antiseptic and known to be used topically to help combat bacterial and fungal infection. Squeeky Life Bottle: Organic Glass Cleaner & Multi-Purpose Cleaner

With all of us in lockdown, we’re cleaning our homes like never before! No more time-poor excuses, we’re all wielding the Dyson or mop. However, with cleaning at such close proximity both the girls at The Amazing Blog and I agree that we’re tired of having lingering chemical nasties in our homes. Think phthalates, ammonia or chlorine – to name but a few... With this in mind, dear reader, we’ve searched out some effective and organic cleaning products which are Squeeky Cleaners. Their products range from limescale remover through to bathroom, glass, floor, multi-purpose cleaners and so much more. These can also be refilled with a concentrate, so great for the planet with fewer bottles used. 

Claire Nicolas originally founded Squeeky Cleaners as a laundry and cleaning company in Chippenham, Wiltshire. Claire said: “It started to take shape around the kitchen table! To cut a very long story short, my cleaners were about to be made redundant. I was at a loose end and said (quite naively) I’ll start a cleaning business…. In 2016 The Squeeky Cleaners were born. We had the opportunity to try their Glass Cleaner and the Multipurpose Cleaner which both arrived in their aluminium spray trigger bottles with one free dose of the cleaners, which you fill up with tap water, give it a shake and you’re up and running.

The Glass Cleaner is quite surprising, I found the fragrance actually quite uplifting! With its plant-based ingredients such as citric, acetic and caprylic (from coconut) acid it is gentle on the nose but ruthlessly removes greasy marks left on glass, giving you a ‘squeaky’ clean. It’s easy to use and effective on both mirror and glass surfaces – they even suggest using it in the car! Next, we used the Multipurpose Cleaner, again easy to use with a pleasant smell and leaves surfaces streak-free. It’s great on kitchen tops, desks and gentle enough for wooden surfaces. The ingredients are similar to the Glass Cleaner, although the addition of PSL6 (1004) left us baffled - what’s that?! The one criticism that we have, is that we’d like to see Squeeky Cleaners give more of an explanation on each of the ingredients used together with their origin.

At The Amazing Blog we're great advocates of both food and good causes, so imagine our joy when we stumbled across The Cape Cod Cookbook by Kelly Moss and Michael Aviles. . Bringing  a slice of New England home-cooking to British shores the proceeds of this cookbook go to Spinal Research thus raising money for a fantastic cause.

Written by sisters Kelly and Michael, who grew up on the beaches of Cape Cod, the Cape Cod Cookbook is a celebration of family, friendship, and food. A beautifully presented hardback book, the Cape Cod Cookbook has wonderfully evocative photographs that perfectly capture the New England way of life. Reminiscent of beach BBQs with friends, the sound of a ferry horn nearing the shore, sailboat races and sand dunes, this is more than just a cookbook.

The book boasts a selection of traditional Cape Cod recipes that include New England Clam Chowder, Boston Baked Beans, and Slow Roasted Pulled Pork.
