Here at the Amazing PR offices we are loving today’s warm(er) weather, especially after this weekend’s rain. So it just makes sense that we are also loving the bright furniture of Bokja designs. Bokja is a Beirut-based business and the creative lovechild of Hoda Baroudi and Maria Hibri. Together they have managed to cleverly combine one’s love of ancient tapestries and textiles with the other’s penchant for retro furniture. All of the furniture is made from designs of 50’s, 60’s and 70’s furniture unearthed in Beirut flea-markets and antique dealerships which are then recovered by local artisans with Central Asian textiles. The result is a treat for the eyes, colourful sofas, chairs, lounges, and pouffs that boast names as playful as their patterns (Scrambled Egg and Mickey Mouse are some standouts).
Feeling a bit guilty about splurging on one of these pieces? (in our dreams!) Well fear not because Bokja gives a percentage of their proceeds to local organizations that work to empower women. To see more photos of Bokja’s designs be sure to check out their Flickr account here. Items are available at Mint or Liberty or you call +961 1 975 576 to place an order.
