Hollywood Browzer

We love nothing more than to have immaculately groomed eyebrows at The Amazing Blog, but upkeep of a well-defined looking brow is often both expensive and time-consuming. Finding the time to visit a salon, growing out brows in-between appointments or doing a costly waxing and threading is not ideal; so we were keen to explore alternative options. This is where Hollywood Browzer comes into play, a painless, quick and easy hair removal method that can be used to shape eyebrows, and so much more.

The concept of Hollywood Browzer is a simple one: to provide effective hair removal on dry skin, ensuring easy hair removal even for those with sensitive skin. To use this product, it's crucial to hold the Hollywood Browzer at a 45-degree angle, using short and gentle strokes against taut skin. This takes a little practice, but we're now dab hands in the office! We found the Hollywood Browzer is best used for shaping eyebrows. However, it is equally effective at removing peach fuzz, upper lip hair and chin hair. It is also gentle enough to be used on the bikini line and gives the same grow back rate as tweezing, threading and waxing. Gone are the days of worrying about thicker hair regrowth. We like how transportable this product is. It’s easy to take away with you and safe to store thanks to the foldable element (keeping the blade secure).

Our favourite part, however, is its longevity. We found our blade lasted over three months - we imagine helped massively by wiping it after each use, and storing it correctly. At just £7.95 for one, the price it is a fraction of the cost of professional hair removal - replacing after 2-3 months is much less of a tug at the purse strings. If you too would like to try this painless hair removal method, then you can purchase the Hollywood Browzer Single in Classic Black here. Alternatively, there are a range of colours available here, as well as duo packs to make your money stretch a little further.

The Bluebeard’s Revenge – The Ultimate Hair Tonics for Real Men

At the risk of being labelled 'a touch predictable’, we at The Amazing Blog couldn’t resist the obvious parallel with our favourite theatrical pastime - that of Panto … ‘Oh NO We Didn’t/ Oh Yes We Did’ etc, when Bluebeard’s Revenge presented us with two of their different Ultimate Hair Tonics for us to try. As regular readers will know we’re fans of this brand, and recently featured their Soap Stack Kit here.

You only have to read the information on the bottles to get a very clear idea that Bluebeard’s Revenge are a company with a cracking sense of humour, is clearly welcomed in the market place with razor burn weary men flocking to try the various products on order to sort the daily assault on our fac es. But be reminded, Bluebeard himself makes it very clear that this range is absolutely only for the REAL man- the kind of man who can wear lace down his chest, but still works the machismo vibe without apology or explanation - who has time for that when there are ships to be plundered and adventures to be had?

However, we are here to tell you about both their Ultimate Hair Tonics for Real Men The Classic Blend and The Cuban Blend which are stand alone products in themselves and sit right up there with the best of them. The Classic Blend pays homage to traditional barbershop finishes, while the Cuban Blend offers an altogether more exotic, Caribbean-inspired fragrance. Both are oil-free making them ideal for all hair types, and head massages and can even be used as a cutting lotion or to break down product. Both have delicious fresh fragrance The Classic is more citrus/fresh whereas The Cuban is a tad more exotic. As a brand that has Men’s Grooming awards coming thick and fast, it is small wonder then that this range is going from strength to strength. Bluebeard’s Revenge have priced themselves very competitively, and offer much in the way of a total grooming regime to keep us boys in tiptop shape whilst we navigate our daily lives in search of that treasure chest - elusive though as it continues to be. Both these products have vegan friendly ingredients and are available online at an accessible price point of £9.99 for 200ml all from Bluebeards Revenge themselves!

Captain Fawcett - Triumphant Moustache Wax

“Here today, up and off to somewhere else tomorrow! Travel, change, interest, excitement! The whole world before you, and a horizon that's always changing!” - the wise words of Mr Toad in the Wind and the Willows. Played by Rufus Hound, his thespian talents are not his only distinguishing feature - thanks to his extraordinarily well-manicured facial fuzz. He has since teamed up with Captain Fawcett, a brand providing top quality shaving and grooming products since 2011. Thanks to the highly successful vibe they have created, it is fair to say that the range has now snowballed in both form and profits. Their website even transports you to a bygone world of Dickensian charm, but with an up to the minute interface, encouraging us chaps to lavish some attention on our personal grooming regimes. Having previously tried their Million Dollar Beard Oil (see here), and from reading up on some of Captain Fawcett’s newest adventures, we at The Amazing Blog HQ found ourselves researching for 3-piece tweeds, pipes and baccy…and none of us smoke!

Back to the point, and more importantly, the product which our friend Rufus Hound has collaborated with Captain Fawcett on: ‘Rufus Hound’s TRIUMPHANT Moustache Wax’. Part of the Signature Series, where ‘The Captain’ has teamed up with a string of perfectly coiffed hirsute faces (literally), we were keen to see what Mr Hound’s tin would provide.

Fragrance-wise we have a delicious recipe on offer - there’s bergamot, lime and ylang ylang, with blackcurrant, clove and galbanum. If that’s not enough, then this wax also has earthy notes of sandalwood, ambergris and musk, producing a richl and indulgent pong that sits well on the top lip area. The 15ml tin may be small, but a little goes a long way If you too believe a ‘tache should be primped ’n perky, £12 is a small price to pay. Be warned though, appropriate application is definitely required for the perfect result - use just the flicker of a fingernail amount and ensure it is warmed thoroughly to achieve an even spread throughout. The hold is firm, and once you have styled your moustache, you can be sure that your creation will stay in place for the day.

Available through the Captain Fawcett website for £12 (15ml), you’ll also find a plethora of other goodies to investigate, including information, advice, and updates on The Captain’s latest adventures!

TABAC Shaving Soaps

At The Amazing Blog we love to rediscover grooming classics, and it’s time to pay due homage to a shaving classic. TABAC have been giving us boys a no-nonsense, smooth as you like, close shave, since the 1950s, and like most of the design classics from that era, the complete range stands the test of time, with the Original Shaving Soap taking their jewel in the Tabac crown... The woody, masculine fragrance is instantly recognisable, and evocative of so much male grooming history - the chances are somewhere in all our ‘shaving journeys’, this pot of sumptuous lather has played a part, even if it was from our father’s, or grandfather’s tutorials when puberty began knocking on the bathroom door.

The lather really is the key here, to protecting the skin as we scythe off those unwanted hairs, and TABAC have consistently given us this. So much so, it is quite easy to overload the shaving brush and find ourselves deep in Christmas cake icing territory, which can be totally counter-productive. Loading up the brush, however, with a generous head of cream, should be plenty to ensure a decent first and second attempt. As a lot of water is kept in the bubbles, continuous hydration is easily achieved and is important in avoiding the dreaded drag of a blade, which inevitably leads to irritation and possible soreness. Used in the right way, this shaving soap will not only give many effective shaves, but also helps to prepare the follicles for harvest time, and as we all know, prepped skin will always yield a calmer result following the onslaught of a razor.

Granted, there may indeed be slightly cheaper options on the market, but when it comes to putting our best chin forward, who is going to quibble about £13.10 for a whole 125g tub or perhaps £8 for a 10g stick. The TABAC range is a staple of the male grooming industry, you will find their goodies in most high street shops, local chemists and online from The English Shaving Company.

Christmas Special: Great Grooming Gifts for Him

Here at The Amazing Blog we’re big believers in taking care of yourself, from daily routine essentials like cleansing to the finishing touches like the aftershave you choose. So it was almost mandatory for us to do a Christmas grooming gift guide to ensure you knew what presents to purchase to make sure your friends and family look preened to perfection this festive season. Keep watching this space for our beauty for her Christmas special too.

Firstly for the man with a beard- Fit For Vikings have you covered with their great gift boxes, these can be personalised by choosing which of the four products you want to include. The box we received is actually named after the highest peak in Iceland; Hvannadalshnjúkur and though maybe not the catchiest name for us brits, the contents inside are as high quality as the name suggests. The beard oil, moustache wax and beard balm all have the same delicious sweet scent which comes from the Sweet Orange and Lemongrass within the formula. The handy beard balm and moustache wax tins are a good size and the droplet tip for the beard oil makes for easy application. These beard care kits come in 9 different scents to choose from and we received a sample of the beard oil of each. The variety of scents are great; mainly based around woody, natural smells but with hints of recognisable influences from liquorice to lemon, so we’re sure there’s a perfect one for your receiver.

You can purchase these here for £40.41

Our next gift is the great all-rounder, for men who want simple but effective skincare products; Skinauthority has the answer. Their Signature Clean Skin Care box offers four products which every man needs in his grooming routine; Daily wash, Shave serum, Hydrating Sunscreen and Reviving eye brightener. The gel formula of the daily wash works to remove dirt and oil from the skin to leave soft, smooth skin. Only a thin layer of the Anti-aging shave serum is needed for a close shave, this formula is good for sensitive skin as it doesn’t irritate skin, but leaves is moisturised. The hydrating sunscreen can be used liberally all over the body and is a strong SPF30 to protect skin from any burns and the eye cream can be used daily to erase crows feet whilst reducing puffiness. The bottle designs reflect Skin authority's philosophy of simple but effective, with simple monochrome packaging.

This little high-performance collection is £ 114.50 here.

For a natural skincare brand we have Nuxe Paris. This brand focuses on harnessing power from trees and uses plant-derived bases for its products. The collection we received included their Shower gel, Shaving Gel, After shave balm and the luxury product Anti-aging Fluid. The range is for all skin types including sensitive skin and all of the products have a very subtle woody scent. The shaving gel is dense and creamy to improve the precision of the shaving, the multi-purpose after shave balm should be used directly after shaving to increase the softness of the skin. The shower gel creates a lather and is great for use on the face, body and hair. Lastly, the Nuxellence cream boosts the energy in the skin and when used daily can make the skin appear more youthful and firmer. The brown bottle packaging looks modern and are simple to use.

You can find the Luxury Collection Gift set here for £ 20.

This year Ted Baker have released Ted’s essentials, a 4 piece box of their most classic fragrances. The mix of M, Skinwear, XO and X2O makes an exceptional present. We love how varied the smells are and in classic Ted Baker style the packaging is sleek and simple, the 4 bottles are held in a black box embossed with copper letters. The fragrances are cased in matt black bottles with copper lids and the small size mean they are ideal for travelling or on-the-go men. The top notes of all the scents are different, with M having a woody base, Skinwear is a fresh aromatic scent, XO is fresh, green and woody and X2O is spicy and intense.
