The London Bierfest

While beer-garden season may be long gone, that doesn't mean that we Brits need to give up one of our very favourite tipples. The skies may be grey, the wind may be lethal and the rain may be torrential, but if you're feeling the onset of the impending winter blues, what better way to abate them than by sipping on a nice pint (or several) of beer?

Taking place from Wednesday 3rd to Friday 5th October, The London Bierfest is a must-do for anyone fond of a pint, who has neither the funds nor the inclination to cross the channel to Munich for their 16-day celebration of beer (which includes us at The Amazing Blog). Held in the City's Old Billingsgate Market, The London Bierfest is in its tenth year and offers the perfect opportunity to network, entertain or, indeed, relax with friends and colleagues over a pint of beer.

Old Billingsgate Market will be transformed into a traditional Oktoberfest, buzzing with live music, dancing and a plethora of entertainment. Washed down with unlimited Bitburger beer and authentic German food, there's no danger of going without while at The London Bierfest. Having hosted more than 30,000 guests since its conception in 2003, both the atmosphere and entertainment is unrivalled and a night of fun and frolics is guaranteed.

No Bierfest would be complete without costumes, so fancy dress is encouraged and fun accessories can be bought from the Bierfest merchandise booth. With a whole host of hats, moustaches and wigs to choose from, you'll be spoilt for choice and sure to get into the spirit of Oktoberfest.

Cawston Press

Having spent the last four evenings consuming copious amounts of alcohol, I'm feeling far from fresh on this blustery Monday.  Thursday evening was dinner with the girls, which turned into a night of wine swigging; Friday was a friend's wedding, Saturday a house-party which went on until sunrise, and last night an impromptu beer swilling night in front of the TV with my housemates. Thus, given my rather delicate state today, and unable to drink like I used to, the rest of the week will be spent free of all things alcoholic. Lucky for me, we ladies at The Amazing Blog recently came across Cawston Press and their fab range of drinks, which offer the perfect alternative to alcohol and come without the dreaded morning-after-the-night-before foggy head and memory loss.

With a long standing passion for all things apple-related, Cawston Press have spent over twenty-five years developing an innovative range of all-natural juices, and most recently launched their very own version of fizz - Sparkling Apple and Sparkling Apple Ginger Beer. The Sparkling Apple contains no less than 75% pressed apple juice while the Sparkling Apple Ginger Beer is a unique take on the classic which also features lemon juice and a hint of chilli, giving it a certain je ne sais qoui!

Both drinks are light and refreshing, with the perfect amount of fizz, and are the ideal companion to any kind of meal, noon or night. Unlike many soft drinks, Cawston Press contain no artificial sweeteners, preservatives or colourings and a 200ml glass of any of their juices will provide you with one of your 5-a-day. Tasty and healthy - what more could you ask for in a drink?!

So, whether you're nursing a four-day hangover, or are simply looking for a grown-up soft drink that's both delicious and good for you, head to any leading supermarket to get your hands on a bottle or buy online here.

Cocofina

We girls at The Amazing Blog know the importance of staying hydrated. But whether you're a self-confessed gym bunny, are keeping cool during the (occasional) spells of sunshine or simply sipping fluids on a day-to-day basis, sometimes water just doesn't cut it. Yes, it's good for you; but while it might flushes out toxins and keep skin glowing, it tastes kind of bland right?

Thankfully, we recently came across Cocofina Coconut Juice, whose special properties put H20 to shame. Cocofina Coconut Juice or Coconut Water is the clear liquid found within young green coconuts. As the name suggest its made from the finest small coconuts at their water ready peak hence the name 'Cocofina'. What is special about these coconut water drinks is their infusions. We loved all the different flavour combinations of  Cocofina Coconut Juice with Pineapple and Lime (very zesty and refreshing), the Cocofina Coconut with Apple and Blueberry (deliciously fruity) and their Cocofina Coconut with Tea and Passionfruit (aromatic and sweet).

Many people don't realise that coconut juice is one of nature's superfluids, and with such an acolade comes a huge amount of health benefits. Cocofina is naturally isotonic, meaning that it rehydrates faster than water and is naturally low in both fat and cholesterol, with no added sugar. In addition it's a good source of Vitamin C, Vitamin B2, Potassium, Iron, Calcium and Magnesium.

With a refreshing, fruity taste and so packed with goodness, Cocofina has become The Amazing Blog's favourite new drink and it's no surprise that it won Gold in the Soft Drink category at the Excellence In Food And Drink Awards! Oh, and finally - it's brilliant for hangovers having been tried and tested by staff at The Amazing Blog - so certainly a must have in this office!

Juiceology

How many times have you tried to experiment with a new type of healthy drink only to come away disappointed? You attempt to be healthy and try fruit and vegetable juices but they end up tasting awful.  Having been through a plethora of allegedly healthy juices, I almost gave up hope on finding a  drink that was good for me as well as delicious. That was until a box of Juiceology arrived at The Amazing Blog  - yes and we all agree that each of the four flavours is everybit as good as the last!

The juices created by Juiceology are all natural and don't contain any artificial sugars or preservatives. The taste of these juices comes from the blend of juice, purees, herbs, natural botanical extracts, and spring water. For additional health benefits, Juiceology has included a multitude of antioxidants as well as milk thistle to all of their drinks.  I tried the apple, lime, and mint which was absolutely delicious. The flavour of apple combined with the citrus taste of the lime blended perfectly with the subtle hint of mint at the end.  Their other flavours are mandarin, ginger, and cardamom, lychee, berry, and basil, and coconut water and white guava and the gang at The Amazing Blog are certainly looking forward to drinking our way through them - in fact we think that with a quick dash of vodka they'd be rather nice too...  So, if you, too, are in need of a healthy thirst-quencher more exciting than water, give Juiceology a try, available online priced at £14.99 for 12 bottles.

Bulmers No 17

Now that BBQ season is in full-swing and we are finally enjoying some good weather (albeit with the obligatory British Summer shower intervals) I have been on the look out for a new and refreshing Summery drink. This month Bulmers has not only decided to give its whole range of ciders a new and improved look with redesigned bottles and labels they have also unveiled a brand new variety, Bulmers No 17. The 4% ABV premium quality apple cider has been given a new fruity twist with the addition of crushed red berries, cut with a shot of lime. We think it’s best served poured over ice with a wedge of lime although be warned, the fruitiness is deceiving and you’d be forgiven for thinking that it’s just a refreshing Summer drink and consuming more than is wise!

To accompany the launch Bulmers are running a series of fun experiments across the country such as ‘The Lift Experiment’ and ‘The Friendliest Pubs Experiment’ - go to www.bulmers.co.uk or www.facebook.com/bulmersuk to find out more.

Bulmers No 17 is available now at all major retailers.
