Beauty UK Posh Pout Lip Crayon Collection

BLOG image With the change in seasons we often find that our wardrobes tend to get darker and we lose all our bright summery colours. However we love to bring back a pop of summer colour with our lips. Like girls, here at The Amazing Blog office, we love trying out new lipsticks, glosses and balms in an array of different shades depending on the mood, season and, of course, outfit. So, we are happy to tell you all about one of our new favourite lip collections, Posh Pout by Beauty UK.

Beauty UK’s Posh Pout lip crayons are the perfect handbag accessory for girls on the go. These lovely lip crayons are not only highly pigmented, but also work to hydrate your lips and prevent the cold Autumn weather from drying them out. The intense burst of colour is relatively long lasting and leaves a stain on the lips, so even when the product wears off, the colour still remains, keeping your lips perfectly kissable all day long.

These fantastic lip crayons come in six different shades, all of which are bright and bold, perfect for cheering up any winter outfit. This includes Big Pinkin, a Barbie pink that Nicki Minaj would be proud of, Would I Lilac To You, is a beautiful soft lilac shade that is something a bit different to our normal go-to lip shades. Power to the Purple, is an elegant plum colour that is perfect for creating the Autumn berry lip. How Nude, is probably the tamest of the shades and is sheer and simple, we think this is a great shade for when you want your eyes to do the standing out. Corally Incorrect is a gorgeous summery coral that would work well to bring a burst of warmth and colour to the colder months and finally Sugar Plum Fairy, a frosted plum hue that is pearly and wonderful for Christmas time.

We think that the Posh Pout lip crayons are a must-have for any lip fanatics because the shades on offer are so vivid and there is a colour suitable for every taste. The office favourite was Corally Incorrect as it is such a classic shade that can go with virtually anything, Summer or Winter, it is just so versatile. However, we also loved Would I Lilac To You, as it is a little bit different and definitely a shade that used to be outside of our colour comfort zone.

If you are keen to experiment with your lip colours, then you can get your hands on your very own Posh Pout lip crayon for a mere £2.99 each; either from the Beauty UK website or from Superdrug.

Uslu Airlines Nail Polish

USLU BLOG image We all know that it is not just the formula of a product that makes you want to purchase it. Everything from the name of the product to the packaging should interest the consumer. If there is one company who has very ‘cool’ marketing, packaging, and products, it is Uslu Airlines. Uslu Airlines was founded by a Turkish make-up artist and German entrepreneur, and they are taking the cosmetics world by storm. We recently tried one of their lipsticks in the colour HOH, which we featured on The Amazing Blog here, and absolutely loved the power of the colour. When we heard about their new release of nail polishes, called ‘USL’, we knew we had to try them out!

The USL range by Uslu Airlines features nail polishes in a delicious array of colours including two glitter shades. We were able to sample CUN, which is a lovely bright orange, that we think will be suitable to any skin tone. It applies very smooth and two coats of the polish did the trick for my nails. We think this is the perfect shade of pumpkin ready for Halloween!

If you didn’t already know, Uslu Airlines refers to the names of their products as ‘destinations’ with each product having the name of an airport around the world. CUN stands for the Cancun International Airport in Mexico and I think that this is an incredibly fitting name for the colour. It is bright and tropical, but will work just as well for autumn. The USL range has a variety of colours from light pinks to red, so there will definitely be something for everyone.

Uslu Airlines has a wide range of products available, from the USL nail polishes to their vibrant lipsticks and airbrush makeup. To purchase the USL nail polishes or learn more about the brand, visit the Uslu Airlines website.

Nail Art by Helena Biggs

Nail Art Cover 2

As you’ve probably guessed, we girls at The Amazing Blog are HUGE fans of anything to do with nails or nail art and we are also avid readers of Scratch, the UK’s No.1 nail magazine, which focuses on the latest beauty industry news and nail trends. So when we heard that Scratch’s Deputy Editor Helena Biggs was bringing out her book, Nail Art, we couldn’t wait to get our claws (get it?) into a copy.

Nail Art is a fantastic book, not just for professional nail technicians, but for hobbyists too. The book is really thorough and begins with the basics such as the tools needed to create beautiful nail patterns and how to prepare your nails before you begin. Each chapter has a different theme and focuses on certain types of nail art. The themes range from ‘Fashion-forward fingertips’ to Nail art from the underground’, and every single chapter is packed full of images of beautiful and often intricate nail designs from top nail art professionals. We think it has enough nail art inspiration to last you a lifetime.

Not only does this book show off some amazing nail artwork, but there are also plenty of nail art tutorials throughout the book to help you to recreate some of the classic and also fashionable nail looks. These tutorials include plenty of photos and a step-by-step guide to help you perfect your desired look, which is great for beginners but also helpful to improve techniques of those already involved in nail art. We were very happy to see some of our favourite Nail Techs featured with breathtaking work from the likes of Megumi Mizuno, Zoe Pocock, Marian Newman and Sam Biddle.

Our favourite chapters have to be the last two, ‘Intricate Nail Designs’ and ‘Fantasy Fingernails’. These chapters feature a range of stunning photographs of the most intricately detailed nails we have ever seen. Whilst they are perhaps not the most practical of designs they are beautiful pieces of artwork that we could admire for hours. If sculptured nails aren’t your cup of tea, you can find plenty of information and images about a whole range of techniques from dotting tools to nail wraps, to nail caviar. There really is something for everyone in this wonderful book and you are sure to pick up plenty of tips and tricks of the trade to include in your own nail art work.

If you are a nail art enthusiast too, we highly recommend that you get yourself a copy of this wonderfully informative book, we promise it will become your nail art bible. This fabulous book is so popular that it is currently completely sold out! However the book is being reprinted, so watch this space for more copies that will be available on Amazon and from Waterstones.

Beauty UK's CC Cream

Beauty UK CC Cream blog image Here at The Amazing Blog, the girls in the office have tried and tested more makeup products that we could count. So naturally over the years we have all perfected our makeup routine. However this was all disrupted with the latest trends in the make up industry, most recently with CC or Colour Correction Creams. So needless to say we were all excited to try out Beauty UKs new CC Cream and see how we could fit it into our makeup regime.

The Beauty UK CC Cream is designed to give colour correction by evening out the skin tone, as well as keeping the skin hydrated and safe from the sun. It has SPF 30, which makes it a wonderful choice for girls who don’t normally use foundation that contains SPF. It also boasts light reflecting pigments to help keep the skin looking radiant and flawless. This CC Cream comes in three different shades: Natural is the lightest, and for those of us that are pale, be wary because the undertone is slightly pink. Fawn is the medium shade, and I think this colour has a great natural looking undertone. Biscuit is the darkest shade available, and is a very tanned colour. Upon applying, it feels very good on the skin, and it feels very light and not cakey. A CC Cream is obviously not going to be as longwearing as a foundation would be, but it is great for light coverage. The best part is, this CC Cream is only £4.99! It costs a fraction of what many other CC creams cost, and you can still get great results from it.

If you want to get your hands on some of Beauty UK’s new CC Cream, visit their website or head over to your local Superdrug. Beyond the CC Cream, they have a large range of different face and eye cosmetics that can work very well with your new favourite base product!

Get Beautiful Skin with Dr. Brandt's CC Mat Cream

blog image The double lettered phenomenon. BB, CC, DD… I promise we’re not talking bra sizes! When we, at The Amazing Blog, were sent the Dr. Brandt CC Mat, we were really excited to try it out after hearing so much about this type of cream, and it did not disappoint.

CC Mat is a new addition to Dr. Brandt’s Pores No More collection and is developed to treat, protect and mattify the skin, while leaving it feeling fresh throughout the day. The CC stands for Colour Correcting, meaning it covers skin imperfections and evens out the skin tone. With ingredients like hyaluronic acid and Vitamin E and C, it will moisture and brighten the skin, decrease pigmentation and decrease photo ageing on the long run.

It is an oil-free cream, specially targeted to oily/combination skins. It does a good job leaving the skin shine free throughout the day, even during these very humid days in London. The cream has a matte finish which is great for preventing that mid-afternoon oily shine on the t-zone. The coverage of the CC cream is light, so it does not feel heavy or cakey on the skin, making it perfect for that summer ‘no-make up look’.

As it contains SPF 30 PA +++, this is perfect for days at the beach, when you need protection from the sun, but want to enhance your skin while still looking natural. Whilst this cream is not the cheapest on the market, retailing at £34 from the Feel Unique website, it is really effective with an amazing finish leaving my skin looking beautiful. That, in my opinion, is well worth every penny.
