Budding New Friends

At Amazing PR we are always on the go, once we’ve step over our office threshold - there is really very little respite.  What with phone calls, office catch ups, emails and the then legging it to meetings – we never have a moment. So sling in my midday dog walk on top of everything else and frankly what chance have I of finding time to reapply my make-up? The biggest make up sin for me is panda eyes. It doesn’t matter what mascara I use, waterproof or otherwise, the smudgy bits are always there, together with those black flicker-spots that liberally seem to keep repositioning themselves above my eyelid. However, enter these clever little helpers the Eye Make Up Remover & Corrector Liquid Filled Cotton Buds and with just a quick swipe under and over the eye and like magic it’s all gone!

Ingenious, in my view, these little Liquid Filled Cotton Buds they come in a sealed pack of 24 but could easily be stored solo in a make-up bag (if like me you are pushed for space). Water based and alcohol free these buds also have skin conditioning properties thanks to soothing Aloe Vera and anti- ageing Vitamin E. With a quick ‘snap’ of top the bud (the one with the green line) eye make-up remover liquid is activated, pouring into the bottom bud making it damp and ready to use.

Amirose are the company who are behind these Eye Make Up Remover & Corrector Liquid Filled Cotton Buds. They also have two other clever Liquid Filled Cotton Buds too: Blemish Blitz (bye bye skin eruptions) and Xpress Dental Remover(no more ‘vampire smiles’ i.e. red wine stains). These handy buds are so easy to use no mess or fuss just snap the tip and dab or clean were needed. Best of all they are a very affordable £3.99.

Firefly Stools

Here at The Amazing Blog, we're always on the look out for new and innovative pieces to add to our wish lists. From the latest in fad-handbags, to the most decadent of chocolates and the most coveted of beauty products, we each have a list the length of our arm. And with my birthday fast-approaching, I've taken to leaving mine lying oh-so-subtly around the office.

And now that I'm on the verge of (horror of horrors) my late twenties (I turn 26 in mid-Feb), I've taken to adding household items to my wish list, in the hope that it might make me feel like a proper grown up.

The latest addition to my wish list are these fabulous Firefly Glow Stools from Fashion For Home. Perfect for use either indoors or out, they're certain to add a certain je ne sais quoi to your abode. Ideal for creating easily changeable multi-coloured mood lighting, the versatile stools have 6 auto-switchable colour choices, including purple, blue and white. Whether used in a bedroom or the garden, for decorative purposes or practical, the stools give a great ambience and with sharp lines and a sleek design they certainly stand out from your standard stool.

And with my birthday in just under two weeks, I couldn't think of a more perfect present *nudge nudge, hint hint*.

Get your Ghoul on...

In manner of all things ghoulish, we at Amazing PR HQ are getting geared up for a very spooky weekend ahead. And being the wrong side of puberty for trick-or-treating, we’ve been on the witch-hunt for the Capital’s best Halloween offerings. Charlton House, located in Greenwich, is one of London’s finest Jacobean mansions and will open its doors this Halloween weekend to a spooky spectacular, showcasing a historical ghostly performance by Phantasmagoria Events. Founded in 2006, Phantasmagoria produces a variety of themed activities under four guises: Ghost Hunting, Haunted History Walks, the Original London Ghost Festival and the Theatre of Blood, supplying an array of intriguing, spine-tingling and informative events for fans of the supernatural, the ghostly, and the downright disturbing. The interactive performance promises to be an eerie extravanza, with gods, monsters and spirits a-plenty and a frightening twist that might mean you get more than you bargained for.

And if you’re looking for something to do on All Hallow’s Eve itself, why not take part in one of the haunted walks on offer? With three available – The Saints & Sinners of Southwark, Spooky Smithfields & Beyond and The Midnight Shocker, you’re sure to scare yourself silly in some of London’s most sinister streets.

The Saints & Sinners of Southwark will take participants on a tour of one of the Capital’s oldest and most historically intriguing areas, where you can listen in horror as the guide and her phantom companion share with you stories of despair and burial from the Clink Prison, in a walk compiling of history, the gruesome and all things ghostly.

If you’d rather opt for Spooky Smithfields & Beyond, prepare yourself for a fright as the walk uncovers horrors such as Jack Ketch’s kitchen, violent poltergeists and ancient plague pits.  From execution sites to body-snatching, you will be taken on a tour down the shadows and dark alleyways of Smithfield’s macabre past riddled with reports of disembodied screams, phantom nurses, spectral monks and ghostly vicars.

We’ll see you at the Butcher’s Hook and Cleaver… if you dare! Happy Halloween.

Sweetcorn Bites

Here at Amazing PR we are constantly on the lookout for tasty, healthy snacks that aren’t going to leave us feeling guilty nor fill us up too much between meals and this week we have been curbing our hunger pangs thanks to Sweetcorn Bites.

Sweetcorn Bites are not only a healthy, tasty and extremely convenient snack, they are made from 100% natural and fresh sweetcorn harvested straight from the farm with no artificial ingredients or GMO’s. Perfect as a quick fix snack or last minute vegetable side-dish when in need, each pack contains eight bitesize cobettes which can be easily cooked in the microwave, steamed, boiled or wrapped in foil and put on the barbeque. Naturally high in vitamins, fibre, protein and folic acid, sweetcorn is a great healthy snack and generally considered sweet enough to be loved by kids as well as adults. Our preferred way of enjoying sweetcorn is usually laden with melted butter however these bites are sweet and crunchy enough that they are just as tasty on their own.

As an added incentive, Sweetcorn Bites are harvested from Barfoots Farm in West Sussex who practice sustainable farming and reuse, recycle and reduce waste wherever possible. All their vegetables have the LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) logo and they support ethical trading initiatives across their global farming network to ensure workers are given fair pay and get good healthcare and schooling. They have also started generating biogas from their sweetcorn waste products which is converted into renewabale heat and power as well as irrigable water and natural fertiliser…talk about green energy!

Sweetcorn Bites are available from Waitrose and Ocado.
