Bao-Med Pure Oil Bodywash & Pure Soap

We hate having dry skin, particularly at this time of year when we’re regularly applying our fake tan. At The Amazing Blog far too often we’ve experienced our sunless tan going patchy and flaking off from the hard London water. This is why we’ve been exploring new products with baobab oil, known for its super-hydrating qualities. It’s an extraordinary seed oil that has impressed us in Body Balm and Moisturiser here and as a Hydrating Body Oil here.  Today our latest baobab #amazingfinds are Pure Soap and Pure Oil Bodywash from Bao-Med UK.

Bao-Med UK has four products: Pure Soap, Pure Oil Bodywash, Food Supplements and Pure Skin, Scalp & Hair Oil (the latter won an award with Beauty Shortlist Award in 2020). All products are natural and organic and come with international certification. Baobab seed oil production contributes to the economic revival of the poorest parts of South Africa and Venda. Bao-Med's products are made from pure baobab seed oil and a vitamin and mineral-rich white powder from the fruit which is used in their Food Supplements. This oil has softening, protective and restructuring properties and which are excellent for skin and hair, often used for stretch marks or dry and damaged hair. Bao-Med products use only a sustainable process, only collecting the fruit that has fallen from the tree onto the ground, leaving the tree intact. In this way, they ensure a sustainable harvest and the tree can produce fruit for hundreds of years to come. This brand’s products have been created to help promote healthy skin, scalp, hair and nails; as the baobab seed oil is renowned for its hydrating and healing properties.

First of all, let's start with their Pure Soap made with pure baobab oil with the addition of a natural fig fragrance. It’s smooth to handle and looks like a maple fine-grained wooden roundel. The fig fragrance is subtle, even moreish and particularly evident when lathered up in the hands. We ventured to use this both on the hands and body. It also became a regular fixture both prior and during our covid19 lockdown. Best of all, unlike other soaps when used, we didn’t need to follow it immediately with hand cream, as it magnificently cleansed and moisturised.

Then we have the Pure Oil Bodywash made from baobab and olive oil. This hit the spot addressing our dry skin problem. Hydrating? Oh yes, this most certainly was. With a pH balance of 6.0 pH (neutral and akin to milk) when applied, it had the consistency of oil not that of liquid soap. As soon as it mixes with water goes from being clear into a silky milk-like foam. The product is not greasy and as soon as you apply it, you can feel that it cleaning and moisturising, which leaves a dewy glow to the skin. It also gve a delicate fragrance and worked like a wonder oil keeping our dry and flaky skin at bay. We think this would be particularly good for those with sensitive skin who find regular soap too harsh. Out of the two, this was undoubtedly our favourite. Untamed ™ The Defrizz Wave Tame Machine Hairdryer

As regular readers will know, at The Amazing Blog we’re always trying to find you ‘something a little bit different…’ Well, today we’ve got a truly new and innovative product. Think hairdryer but with a spritz, in fact, an Argan spritz!  Say goodbye to frizzy hair and meet Untamed™

Thrilled to be one of the first to try out this Untamed™ in isolation, it has cheered me up no end!  As we’re always extolling the virtues of Argan oil in different products here, you’ll see we’re big fans of this magical oil, particularly for dry skin or hair.  The oil contains vitamin E and fatty acids and has antioxidant properties, so it has all bases covered.  I started out being a little sceptical as my hair is very fine, curly and flyaway and I was nervous about spritzing Argan oil after a conditioner in case it made it flat and lifeless.  However, I’m happy to report my fears were ill-founded – it was far from flat or greasy giving me only a lustrous finish. Following their advice, I part dried my hair first and used the Argan oil sparingly, I’d recommend you go slowly at first as everyone’s hair is different.  It is quite easy to use, powerful and yet lightweight.  Putting the Argan oil spritzer onto the hair drying nozzle was super easy but you can check out the video clip on their website if you need it here. I found the heat came out evenly, so it won’t damage the hair over time.  Also after reading the blurb, I discovered that emitting negative ions was also helping stop static and frizz, who would have thought? Well, Untamed™ did!  In addition to the 5 other settings, I finished with the cold shot to keep everything smooth; as we all know, it’s something hairdressers always do at the end of the blow-dry.  The Argan oil bottles do of course run out, how quickly depends on how often you use them, but you can refill with any other Argan hair oil.  I loved this Untamed with or without the Argan oil. It gave me the results I wanted and I found it to be quicker and kinder than other hairdryers I’ve used. Esteem Royale Cosmetics - Goat's Milk Soaps

Here at The Amazing Blog we’ve long been fans of goat’s milk. From drinking it as an alternative to cow’s milk (easier to digest and not pumped full of hormones) to using it as a body wash see here. So when we heard about an international brand Esteem Royale Cosmetics with their Goat Milk Soap, Royale Marrakech Blend (which was the winner in the Pure Beauty Global Awards 2019 for Best New Bath and Shower Product here) we knew we had to try it.

The brand was created in 2013 by two Nigerian sisters Odion and Idowu Ejere. They commented: “We have developed skincare potions and makeup that cater to people of every colour and every age in different climates with inputs from our loyal customers, retailers, distributors, dermatologists and beauty experts.”  Thanks to being online, the brand sells its products globally and you’ll find all kinds of skincare products for face and body (including their Goats Milk Soaps) as well as a range of lipsticks. Their cosmetics were initially created for women of colour but can also be used by everyone.

They kindly sent us their full collection of four Goat Milk Soaps.  First of all, the packaging is a set of stylish rounds that are made of eco-friendly cardboard boxes. Each soap comes in a 3/4 ball shape with a flat base, making it easy to handle. They are all rich with anti-ageing properties, vitamins, nutrients, proteins and naturally occurring triglycerides. Plus, they are formulated with carefully sourced ingredients that exfoliate, soften, nourish and visibly brighten the skin. The rich lactic acid content helps to remove dead skin cells on the surface to reveal younger-looking skin, and hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, lactic acid, vitamin A, selenium helps protects the skin from sun damage.  Let’s start with the Bubblegum Tang – its fragrance is sweet and fruity (like bubblegum) key ingredient (after goats milk) is brown sugar which is a natural humectant and has natural anti-bacterial properties. Then there is Mucatti Mandarine Crush  - this is as it sounds citrusy. It has mandarin orange extract and vitamin C from grapefruits and limes which lighten the skin and promote collagen production. Then there is the Toasted Coffee Blend - the scent is like sweet milky coffee which is not surprising as it’s main ingredient is black coffee beans, which are highly exfoliating, help to fade dark spots, prevents acne and combats cellulite (we preferred using this on our body, not our face!) Finally, their award-winning soap Royale Marrakech Blend this was undoubtedly our favourite. With its subtle fragrance and creamy texture, it also has the additions of oatmeal, soybean protein, coconut oil essence and Xinjiang liquorice extract.

For those of you who are not in the know, goat’s milk is a very gentle cleanser rich in fatty acids and it also has many anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial qualities. Inspira Cosmetics - Pure Vital C Booster Pearls and Activator Fluid

Sometimes, it is all about searching out the right serum for your skin, to boost and restore it back to its former glory and at The Amazing Blog we’ve tried many! Today we wanted to re-introduce you Inspira Cosmetics a brand that we recently reviewed with their 4 Men Only 24H Skin Supercharger here. They are a German newcomer to the UK, and today we’re featuring their Pure Vital C Booster Pearls and Activator Fluid from their Inspira Med range.

In 2000 Inspira Cosmetics was founded by Walther Janssen, who created this brand after 30 years of experience in the cosmetics industry. This ‘Inspira Med’ range was developed to meet professional spa and clinic standards but is also gentle enough for clients’ home use. It is a solution-based skincare range with the latest scientific advances to ensure the most effective results.

As mentioned, they kindly send us their skin refining serum Pure Vital C Booster Pearls and Activator Fluid. This skin-refining liquid has clinical studies that are over three-week period reporting: 21 % less of wrinkles, 24% reduction of rough skin, 20% improvement of elasticity and 80% reduction in fewer age spots with improvement in skin tone. It arrived stylishly boxed like a magic potion and looked most promising. With key ingredient is the antioxidant of pure L-Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C) which is in a powder form moulded into a ‘pearl’ in a carrier of jojoba oil, this is then mixed together with three drops their Activator Liquid. Vitamin C is notoriously unstable therefore by mixing the Vital C Pearls with the Activator Liquid, it keeps it fresh with all the actives working to an optimum. We couldn’t wait to begin! Before applying the skin must be cleansed and completely free of any residue. When we mixed together, the pearl dissolves and becomes a light fragrance-free clear liquid that swiftly absorbs into the skin. They recommend using this serum daily or weekly at night – depending on your skin issues. We used it once a week, for a period of 7 weeks and found it to be gentle and effective. What we noticed was a reduction in skin pigmentation and pore size, which in retrospect would have offered swifter results if we’d used it daily. DRINQI- Hyaluronic Acid Serum (Highest Percentage) by Therin

We love products with hyaluronic acid, they work wonders for the complexion and have many benefits including smoothing, plumping and tightening the skin. As time-poor individuals here at The Amazing Blog we’re always looking for products that do the most but require the least amount of effort. Today we’ve found that very thing, and we’re thrilled to be the very first to review a new Australian natural skincare DRINQI Hyaluronic Acid Serum.

With her extensive experience in the skincare industry, her beauty credentials are nothing short of impeccable. Not only is she an Industry Expert Advisor to Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (organic skincare), a private label formulator, a spa menu and treatment adviser but also a qualified holistic practitioner (in all spheres) - the list here is endless! Therin cleverly spotted a gap in the market and decided to focus her efforts on aligning quality with affordability, producing a trio of vegan performance-based serums that offer the very highest percentage of pure hyaluronic acid. There are no fillers, only a few simple ingredients other than the hyaluronic acid (think water and a natural food-based preservative). She is truly a skincare genius, and we couldn’t wait to see the results from her serum. As an ingredient hyaluronic acid (let’s call it HA), is a humectant that attracts water and is critical for maintaining skin hydration.  Not only does it hydrate, but as a molecule it can hold 1,000 x its weight in water. It’s natural and produced by the body and can be used as an injection, supplement, or in this case a serum. Many skincare products contain this ingredient but not in the same way as DRINQI. Competitive brands offer between 0.02% - 2% HA, yet DRINQI has produced a range of three serums from 3%, 10% to an astonishing 13%! How do you know which one to use? Well, it’s probably best to start with the 3% and see how you progress. The performance of the serum depends on the individual, i.e. someone 20+ may feel 3% is a  perfect starting point, whereas someone 50+ may want a higher strength with the potent 13% to achieve more significant results. As mentioned, the serums are vegan with the HA sourced from the fermentation of nutritious vegetables - nothing else. We also like that it’s safe to use even during pregnancy. Three of us used the 3% 10% and 13% serums twice a day morning and night with no issues. However, on a single occasion, one of us did get a little flushing (hormones?) otherwise it sank into our complexions without a trace. It’s so easy to incorporate into your skincare, just a few drops of the clear gel-like liquid on the fingertips and gently smooth into the face/neck and décolletage.  Our verdict? Skin looked dewier, plumper and after only a few days, we also noticed a difference in texture, fine lines and firmness. Will we be buying more? That’s a resounding yes from us all! The bottom line?
